"Adult Sophia, played by soprano Elena Howard-Scott, is a demanding role as she narrates most of the opera and has to display a range of difficult emotions without directly interacting with other characters. Howard-Scott handled this challenge well, but I was particularly impressed by her dynamic voice. She alone could make a moment seem frantic or overwhelming by the sheer volume with which she engulfed the entire space. In her quieter moments, the silence hung, heavy and unavoidable. As the space did not allow for supertitles, Howard-Scott ensured her enunciation was clear so that the audience could follow her every word."

"Sophia is alternately portrayed succinctly as a grown woman by soprano Elena Howard-Scott. I write “succinctly” because the vocal lines of the grown Sophia’s melodies can be complex, “jagged” and challenging, but Howard-Scott delivers them with skill."

"..so there’s nowhere to hide for the performers and they do a terrific job. I think in this production, perhaps more than most, it’s Blanche de la Force who is carrying the emotional arc of the piece. Her complex psychological journey from out-of-place young aristo to acceptance of what “peace” means for her is very clearly brought out here in a very fine performance by Elena Howard-Scott. It’s hard to pin down what makes her so effective, but she is."

"As Blanche, Rebanks Fellow soprano Elena Howard-Scott sang very well, with a particularly powerful top register. Her scenes with the Marquis (Colin Mackey) and later with the Chevalier (Yanik Gosselin) were beautifully executed."

"Elena Howard-Scott and Daniel Greenberg were a perfect pair last night at Drayton Entertainment's production of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. Elena Howard-Scott was spellbinding! I guess I'm a sucker for narcissistic, calculating, yet irresistible characters who have world-class vocal skills."
