About Elena

Hailing from Winnipeg, Elena is a versatile soprano residing in Toronto, Ontario. Elena has recently completed her Artist Diploma in Voice at the Glenn Gould School (Royal Conservatory of Music), under the tutelage of Adrianne Pieczonka and Peter Tiefenbach.  She also holds a Bachelor of Music (Vocal Performance) from the University of Manitoba, where she studied with Tracy Dahl. Having grown up in a musical family, Elena has loved being on stage since childhood, whether it be in orchestra, dance, musicals, or solo day at school. 

Deemed "someone to watch" (LudwigVanToronto) , Elena is a brave and committed performer, and enjoys performing in a wide variety of styles. As a frequent competitor in the classical scene, Elena's competition highlights include receiving the Kurt Weill Foundation Prize in the Lotte Lenya Competition, placing first in the North Dakota/Manitoba District in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, and placing first in the CFMTA National Vocal Competition. Most recently, Elena was awarded the Grand Prize at the Corcoran Concerto Competition at the Glenn Gould School.

The 2024/25 season includes Elena making her role debuts as Blanche de la Force in The Royal Conservatory of Music's production of Les Dialogues des Carmélites and Janine in The Handmaid's Tale (Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity), and playing the roles of Sibella in A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder (Drayton Entertainment) and Rapunzel in Into the Woods (Koerner Hall). She is delighted to perform the North American première of Bernard Foccroulle’s The Journal of Hélène Berr, sing with Maestro Francis Choinière and the Orchestre FILMharmonique in Montréal in Disney's Frozen in Concert, as well as perform two review shows at the Victoria Playhouse Petrolia; Fiddler on the Loose and A Starbright Christmas, respectively.

When not performing, Elena enjoys whimsy, practicing yoga, reading, petting dogs, going for walks, and just generally having a good time! She is incredibly grateful for a life of making magic, and to share it with people who take playing make believe so seriously.
